When not in used for an extended period of time, wheelchairs should be stored in secured and dry area, away from direct sunlight preferably in the original box or storage bag.

Transportation

Most of our prescription wheelchairs are foldable and compact enough even for small cars such as Perodua Alza. They are also of standard width and length to move around and about when you need to access our public transportation.

Service & Maintenance

Proper wheelchair care is key to ensure performance and safety of your equipment.

Here are a few areas to look after for:

  • Check your wheel pressure (the right pressure is usually printed on the tyres) and any wear and tear every month if you are using pneumatic tyres. Greater strength is required to propel the chair if pressure is low. Nowadays, most of our prescription wheelchairs are using Polyurethane (PU) tyres, which are maintenance free, hence you may skip this step.

  • Make sure your brakes are working – the wheels should not move when brakes are applied. Examine your brakes weekly if you are not a daily user.

  • Clean your wheelchair regularly. You can clean the chair frame with damp cloth and mild detergent. The backseat and upholstery should be cleaned with only damp cloth and ensure they are dry completely.

  • Lubricate the axles and pivot points every 2 months.

  • Regularly check any nuts and bolts to ensure that they are secure.

  • Look out for other wear and tear or damage.

During this time of Covid 19 pandemic, we encourage that you should disinfect your wheelchair at least once a day if you are out and about.
